Calf Raises for Venous Health

beginner
10-15 repetitions. 2-3 sets. 2-3 times daily. None

Suitable For

Contraindications

  • Avoid if you have severe ankle pain or instability

Benefits

  • Strengthens the calf muscle pump for venous return
  • Reduces leg fatigue and heaviness
  • Improves lower leg circulation
  • Decreases visible vein distention

The calf muscle pump is often called the peripheral heart because of its crucial role in returning blood from the lower legs to the heart. Calf raises strengthen this mechanism, helping to push blood upward through the veins and reducing the pressure that causes varicose veins.

How to Perform

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding onto a stable surface for balance. Slowly rise up onto your toes, lifting your heels as high as comfortable. Hold for 2 seconds, then slowly lower back down. Repeat in a controlled manner.
