The Neck Side Flexion Stretch targets the sternocleidomastoid and scalene muscles on the side of the neck. It is a safe and effective way to relieve tension caused by poor posture, prolonged screen use, or cervical strain.
This stretch is commonly prescribed for patients with cervical spondylosis, neck stiffness, and cervicogenic headaches. It should be performed gently without any jerky movements.
How to Perform
Sit or stand with your spine tall and shoulders relaxed. Gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear toward your shoulder. Keep your opposite shoulder relaxed and down. Hold the stretch for 20 seconds. Return to centre and repeat on the other side. Complete 3 repetitions on each side.
