Core Stability Training

Core Stability Training goes far beyond traditional abdominal exercises. It focuses on strengthening the deep stabilizing muscles of the trunk — including the transverse abdominis, multifidus, pelvic floor muscles, and diaphragm — that work together to provide a stable foundation for all movement of the arms and legs.

When these deep core muscles are weak or poorly coordinated, the spine becomes vulnerable to injury from everyday activities like lifting, twisting, or even sitting for prolonged periods. Core stability training retrains these muscles to activate automatically and appropriately, creating a natural 'corset' of muscular support around the spine.

At Actilife Physiotherapy, we use a progressive approach to core training, starting with basic activation exercises and advancing through functional movements, resistance training, and sport-specific challenges. Each program is individually designed based on your specific needs, whether you are recovering from back pain, preparing for sports, or seeking better posture.
